The above list, taken together with the list of aphids on the similar genus Seriphidium, contains more than 260 species. This is by far the largest aphid fauna of any plant genus. We have split the key into three parts to make it easier to use.

Many of the species formerly in the genus Arundinaria are now placed in related genera, such as Pleioblastus and Yushania. The Arundinaria group of genera seems to have a more restricted aphid fauna than Bambusa, and some species are specific to it, so a separate, shorter key is provided.
